Recycle old holiday lights at drop-off sites

Recycle Your Holidays is a statewide holiday light recycling program in Minnesota. Residents can drop-off their unwanted light strands for free at participating locations starting Nov. 15 and running through the end of January, including a number of sites in the Elk River area.
“Recycle Your Holidays  is a great way for folks to get rid of broken light strands and upgrade to new, high-efficient LED holiday lights,” said Joel Haskard with the Clean Energy Resource Teams.
This program employs more than 200 people with developmental disabilities at vocational centers throughout the state. Every bulb of the light strand is dismantled by vocational center clients and then recycled.
