Sherburne County Sheriff’s Department responds to hunting accident

The Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call of an accidental shooting at about 2 p.m. on Nov. 5 near the intersection of River Road and 95th Avenue in Clear Lake Township.  Upon arrival deputies determined that the victim had sustained a single gun shot wound to the forearm from a shotgun slug.

The victim was identified as Kurt Goenner, 45, of Clear Lake.  The slug was determined to be fired from a shotgun by Dana Hartung, 40, also of Clear Lake.  The victim was transported by Gold Cross Ambulance to the St. Cloud Hospital with injuries believed to be non-life threatening.

There are no criminal charges expected from this incident and it is being investigated as a hunting related accidental shooting.

The Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Becker Police Department, Gold Cross Ambulance and the Clear Lake Fire Department.
