Ruth Lily Wassather, 64, of Elk River, died Thursday, Oct. 20, 2011, at Fairview-University Medical Center, Minneapolis. She was born March 23, 1947, in St. Paul,to the Rev. Lawrence and Ethel (Lundeen) Wagstrom. She graduated from Coon Rapids High School and the University of Minnesota, where she majored in English and minored in journalism. She later obtained a master’s degree in education creative arts from Carthage College in Kenosha, Wis. After graduating from college, Mrs. Wassather taught in Coon Rapids. She owned and operated a realty company in Monticello as a real estate broker for a number of years. She taught at the Crossroads School in St. Francis for the past seven years. The funeral service was held Thursday, Oct. 26 at Gateway Church, Elk River. Mrs. Wassather is survived by her husband, Terry; son, Josh Ladd of Ham Lake; daughter, Krista (Gordon) Wright of Lyndon, Mich., step-children, Tina Taylor of Coon Rapids, Trisha (Matt) Zeiszler of Monticello, Eric (Tracy) Wassather of Monticello and Sarah Wassather of St. Paul; 14 grandchildren; her mother, Ethel Wagstrom of Princeton; sisters, Mary (Jim) Maple of Carr, Colo., Lois Wagstrom (Lou Feagles) of Nashville, Tenn. and Anne (Doug) Lalama of Schererville, Ind.; one niece; four nephews; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Lawrence; a brother-in-law, Harris; and a step-daughter, Kimberly.
