Neighbors Helping Neighbors gearing up again in Zimmerman

Has the past year been difficult financially? Are you unsure how you will be able to provide the needed food and clothes for your family this holiday season?
The Zimmerman Fire Department, Zimmerman public schools, the Zimmerman/Livonia Chamber of Commerce, Woodlands National Bank and Uptown Off Sale, continue to join hands to help provide the necessities to assist families in having a happy holiday season. The group is known as Neighbors Helping Neighbors of Zimmerman.
Applications for families in need may also be accessed at any Zimmerman school front office, on-line via the school website or via the Zimmerman Chamber of Commerce website.
The application must be completed and turned in at the Zimmerman Fire Department drop box, located outside the building, by Nov. 10. Due to the anticipated volume of applications, applicants may be contacted for further information for qualifying purposes. All applicants will be notified regarding the status of their application in November. If they qualify, the letter will include a date and time for pick-up of items the week of Dec. 15.
If individuals are not in need of assistance but would like to help a family who is, they can pick up an “angel” at banks and participating businesses in Zimmerman after Nov. 16. It will list age, size, needs and gender of children people can provide for.
There will also be toy drop-off locations at various businesses.
This program will serve families in the 55398 ZIP code area and any families with students attending Zimmerman public schools. They are no longer affiliated with CAER of Elk River. CAER will serve families in other ZIP code areas.
