The Rogers Royals cruised through their playoff opener against Coon Rapids, winning 25-15, 25-14, 25-15 on Wednesday evening.
The Royals were led at the net by Jordyn Motter with 11 kills, Claire Martinez with 10 and Bre Westberg with nine. Maddie Schaeffer and Sam Kalthoff each made 16 assists. Abby Folk led with 17 digs. The Royals served 74-for-77, led by Lizzy Meyer, who was 15-for-16 and had two of the team’s three aces.
The Royals (19-8), seeded No. 7 among 12 teams in Section 5AAA, now face No. 2 seeded Centennial on the Cogars’ court Friday at 7 p.m. Centennial (20-7) is ranked No. 10 in Class AAA.
