Police report: Police dog injured, iPhone seller scammed, drunk driver hits tree
A passerby reported on Oct. 15 seeing an open door at the old Saxon car dealership building in Elk River. Officers searched the building and found no damage. During the search canine officer Zeus fell about 20 feet from a flight of stairs and received minor injuries.
Coon Rapids man cited for possession
An 18-year-old Coon Rapids man was cited for speeding, possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia after being stopped for speeding shortly after midnight on Oct. 17 at the intersection of Highway 10 and Jackson Avenue in Elk River.
iPhone sale to Nigeria turns out to be fraud
A 19-year-old Elk River man in the 1100 block of Lions Park Drive reported Oct. 16 being the victim of fraud when he sold an iPhone through what he thought was a valid account on Craigslist. The phone was shipped to Nigeria.
Menards discovers attempted fraud
A suspect ordered building supplies from the Elk River Menards, 19521 Evans St., and requested that they be dropped off at an address in Anoka County. Menards found that the credit card number was stolen, so the items were not delivered. The store reported the incident on Oct. 16, and police followed up with the cardholder.
Drunk driver found ‘hung up’ on tree
A 29-year-old Elk River man was arrested for DWI after allegedly driving through multiple yards in the 800 block of Holt Avenue and the 400 block of Irving Avenue in Elk River on the morning of Oct. 16.
While responding to a complaint of driving through yards, police found the vehicle in question had hit a tree and the driver was “hung up” on the tree.
Officer witnesses stop arm violation
A 21-year-old Elk River man was cited for violating the railroad crossing arms after an officer observed him drive through the arms as they were going down. The incident happened about 2:30 a.m. Oct. 16 in the 800 block of Proctor Avenue in Elk River.
Theft reported at Guardian Angels
A 94-year-old man reported missing money from his room at the Guardian Angels Care Center in Elk River. Staff called the police about 10 a.m. Oct. 15 and an officer responded to take a theft report.
Light pole knocked down in neighborhood
A police reserve officer while on patrol on the evening of Oct. 14 found a street light had been struck in the 11300 block of 196th Avenue in Elk River. The light pole had been knocked over, but there are no suspects at this time.
Hanging object flags underage drinking
A police officer stopped a vehicle shortly before 7 p.m. Oct. 14 in the area of School Street and Lions Park Drive in Elk River for having a hanging object attached to the rear view mirror.
Through the subsequent investigation, the following charges were brought:
•a 17-year-old Rogers boy was cited for minor consumption,
•an 18-year-old Rogers man was cited for underage consumption,
•a 17-year-old Rogers girl was cited for minor consumption,
•an 18-year-old Rogers man was cited for underage consumption and
•an 18-year-old Rogers man was taken into custody for furnishing alcohol to minors and underage consumption.
