Act of kindness made vet’s day

I was shopping at Walmart in Elk River on Friday. As I was checking out, my credit card wouldn’t work. As luck would have it, I didn’t have any cash or checks with me.
I was ready to put the items back on the shelves when a lady two down from me came with her credit card and told the cashier to use it for my purchases.
I went over to her to get her name and address so I could mail her a check when I got home. She would not hear of it and thanked me for being a veteran (I had my VFW jacket on). I told her I was a 17-year-old kid from North Dakota when the Korean War broke out and served for three years, from 1950 to 1953.
I don’t know your name, but you made my day. Thank you very much. — Vern C. Wehage, Big Lake
