Lowe’s store in Rogers will close
The Lowe’s store in Rogers is closing.
The company announced Monday it will close that store and 19 other “underperforming” stores in 15 states.
The Rogers store, located at 13800 Rogers Dr., will close within approximately one month. Ten other locations closed Sunday.
“Closing stores is never easy, given the impact on hard-working employees and local communities,” Robert A. Niblock, chairman, president and CEO, said in a press release. “However, we have an obligation to make tough decisions when necessary to improve profitability and strengthen our financial position.
Approximately 1,950 employees will be affected by the store closings. Employees will receive pay and benefits for 60-90 days. In addition, Lowe’s will be working with local government agencies to help employees with outplacement assistance.
Lowe’s has 12 stores in Minnesota. The Rogers location is the only one in Minnesota on this list of closures.
Lowe’s has more than 1,725 home improvement stores in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Founded in 1946 and based in Mooresville, N.C., Lowe’s is the second-largest home improvement retailer in the world.
