Robert “Bob” Oliver Olson, 77

Robert “Bob” Oliver Olson, 77, of Elk River, died Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2011.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1952–1954 in the United States and Germany.
He married Margaret E. Misfeldt on June 3, 1956. He graduated from St. Cloud State in 1964. Mr. Olson was a former teacher, coach and administrator for Ortonville and Plainview public schools. He retired from Osseo Public Schools – District 279 in 1992.
Mr. Olson was a Bush Fellowship Recipient in 1983–84. He was a volunteer with Mercy Hospital, teaching 55 Alive classes and with the Sherburne County Sheriff’s Department as a victim advocate and with the triad court.
He enjoyed golfing, good conversation and spending time with family and friends.
A memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18 at Dare’s Funeral Home, 805 Main St. N.W., Elk River (763-441-1212), with a reception to follow at the Anoka American Legion from noon to 3 p.m.
Mr. Olson is survived by his wife of 55 years, Margaret; children, Becki (Ron) Ollestad and Steven; grandchildren, Chad and Kyle (Ashley); great-grandchildren, Landon and Kipton; sisters, Donna Theusch and Ann (Gary) Lundquist; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver and Harriet.
Memorials are preferred.
