The Elk River boys soccer team was seeded third in Section 8AA which starts Thursday with the Elks hosting St. Cloud Tech.
Anoka got the top seed and St. Michael-Albertville No. 2.
The Elks, who’ve won the section the last two years, finished ahead of Anoka in the NWSC standings but lost to the Tornadoes 2-1 head-to-head. The Elks eat STMA 4-2 but the Knights have a better record.
Rogers was seeded seventh and will play at STMA.
In the top bracket Thursday, No. 1 Anoka (9-3-4) hosts No. 8 Brainerd (3-9-2) and No. 4 Buffalo (11-4-1) hosts No. 5 Moorhead (13-2-1).
In the bottom bracket, No. 2 STMA (10-4-2) hosts No. 7 Rogers (3-12-1) and No. 3 Elk River (8-8-0) hosts No. 6 St. Cloud Tech (7-6-3).
Semifinals will be held Saturday, 1 p.m., at the high seeds, and the finals will be held Tuesday, 4 or 7 p.m., at the high seed.
Seeds are crucial, as the whole tournament this year will be played at high seeds. The finals were played at St.Cloud State the last two years.
