Summery Oktoberfest a success

The Elk River Area Chamber of Commerce’s Oktoberfest was warmly greeted.

Basking in summer-like weather, organizers of the Elk River Area Chamber of Commerce’s Oktoberfest declared the first-time event a success. The fund-raiser was held at the Riverwood Inn and Conference Center in Otsego. “The food Riverwood provided us was phenomenal,” said Debbi Rydberg, president of the chamber. “We had lots of positive comments.” The Elk River German Band (top left) provided entertainment inside a tent. Guests provided the entertainment outside with hammerschlagen and beer stein races. Brian Ertel (top right) was one of the festival-goers to take a swing in a game of hammerschlagen. The event was kicked off with an Ode to Beer, which was written by Kyle Sabot and read by Kevin Oslin, of Grand Casino,  with the help of Jennifer Mueller and Jacklyn Christian (bottom right). Ian Walters and Carin Hudson raised their steins during the reading.
