Former NAPA building is demolished

A crew from Jay Johnson Construction, shown here on Monday, Oct. 3, demolished the old NAPA building in Elk River.

The former NAPA Auto Parts store in Elk River was demolished this week.
The building was located at 824 Railroad Dr. and owned by the Eagles fraternal organization. The Eagles petitioned the city to demolish the building as part of the nuisance abatement process.
Three companies submitted proposals for demolition to the city. The lowest was from Jay Johnson Construction for $18,500. The proposals ranged as high as $46,500.
The cost will be assessed to the Eagles.
The building had been vacant and part of the roof had collapsed.
