Daryl D. “Hawk” Roy, 63, of Elk River, died of ALS at home Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2011. He enjoyed fishing on Lake Mille Lacs and was an avid Gopher fan. According to his family, he will be missed for his bigger-than-life personality and his extraordinary storytelling. Mass of Christian Burial was Monday, Oct. 3 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, Big Lake. Private interment was held. Dare’s Funeral Home served the family. Mr. Roy is survived by his wife, Mary; daughter, Nicole (Greg) Eich, and granddaughter, Maren; son, Brad (Megan) Roy, and Ariana and Gavin Smith; siblings, Diane, Robert, Rosann, and Mark; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Mary, and niece, Suzy. Memorials are preferred to the ALS Association or MDA/ALS Division.
