Rose Bixenman, 60, died Sunday, Sept. 18, 2011.
She was bom July 12, 1951, to John and Lois (Ley) Lundemo. She was raised in Elk River, where she graduated from high school in 1969, and moved to Mankato that year to attend college. There she met Dean “Bix” Bixenman. They were married Sept. 23, 1978, and settled in Mankato.
A seamstress by trade and love, Mrs. Bixenman created beauty through her home business, Rural Customs, Homestead craft show, and her tent at Rock Bend Folk Festival. She also enjoyed knitting, and canning vegetables from her garden.
She and her husband loved music and performed for many years at area venues. They were founding members of the Bothy Folk Club, and attended every year of the Rock Bend Folk Festival, playing there many times on the North Grove Stage.
A memorial service was held Friday, Sept. 23 at Woodland Hills Chapel in Mankato.
Mrs. Bixenman is survived by her mother, Lois, of Elk River; husband, Dean of Mankato; daughters, Amy (Jeremy) Ahem and Claire Bixenman of Burasville; grandson, Garrett Ahem; brother, Jerry (Charlotte) of Jackson, Miss.; sister, Mary (Marv) Handt of Bloomington; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, brothers- and sisters-in law, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, John; grandparents; and brother-in-law, Don Idso.
