The Rogers Royals peppered the Becker goal and beat the Bulldogs 3-0 on Tuesday evening at home.
The Royals outshot the Bulldogs 32-6, and got goals from Jake Lutschen (assisted by Kyle Bogart), Mike Biah (assisted by Kenny Kalk), and Brady Johnson (assisted by Kenny Johnson). It was the first varsity goal for eighth-grader Biah.
It could have been a rout if not for the Bulldog goalie, Jacob Stegner, said Rogers coach Chris Miller.
“We had a lot of other good shots,” said Miller. “I have to give credit to their goalie. He made a lot of tough saves with his fingers. He kept them in the game.”
In goal for Rogers was C.J. Rice.
Rogers is just 2-10-1, but 2-2 in the conference and hoping for a good Mississippi 8 finish with three matches to go. Becker dropped to 0-3 and 0-8.
Rogers will play at Cambridge-Isanti on Thursday.
