Elk River-Zimmerman’s four-game win streak was halted by the Osseo Orioles 4-3 in Osseo on Monday evening.
The Elks had a disastrous 15-minute stretch early in the second half when they gave up four goals that erased a 2-0 halftime lead.
“Osseo was fast and aggressive,” said Elk coach Tom Olson. “We just lost our minds out there for a while.”
After the lapse, the Elks recovered to play what Olson called “our best soccer of the year” the rest of the match. An unassisted goal by Kaleb Orrock got them back within one, and another shot hit the post.
Scoring in the first half were Ryan Ness (with Orrock assisting) and Storm Heyer (Ness assisting).
The Elks are 4-3 in conference and 6-6 overall. The Orioles are 3-3-1 and 5-3-2.
The Elks will host Armstrong on Wednesday, 6 p.m.
