Prep work for Highway 10 rehabilitation project near Big Lake begins Oct. 3

Motorists traveling on Highway 10 between Clear Lake and Big Lake may encounter lane closures and reduced speeds beginning Monday, Oct. 3, as crews begin preparations for next year’s corridor pavement replacement project.
Crews will begin installing temporary bypass lanes and turn lanes, and widening of major intersections for the rehabilitation project scheduled for this portion of the Highway 10 corridor in 2012.
When completed, motorists will experience a safer road with improved access and mobility, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
Access to local businesses will be maintained.
PCI Roads of St. Michael is the prime contractor for this nearly $13.1 million improvement project. This year’s work is scheduled to be completed by mid-November, weather permitting.
During construction and road maintenance work, the Minnesota Department of Transportation urges drivers to:
•Check www.511mn.org or call 511 for up-to-date information about traffic and road conditions.
•Stay alert; expect the unexpected.
•Never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones.
•Plan ahead and expect delays, especially during peak travel times.
