State shutdown delays levy certification

The Elk River Area School Board would have planned to certify its maximum tax levy at the Sept. 26 business meeting had there not been a state government shutdown.

With a delay in information from the state, the Elk River Area School Board will hold a work session Monday, Oct. 3 to discuss the levy certification and hold a special meeting afterward to certify the levy.

The Elk River Area School District expects to get the information it needs from the state after its Sept. 19 work session.

The district has to have the preliminary levy certified by Oct. 8. The levy is fluid until Dec. 20, when it will be finalized.
