Soccer: Elk girls blank Tech 2-0

Elk River posted its first shutout in a 2-0 victory over St. Cloud Tech on Monday evening at St. Cloud State.

The Elks (2-5-1) scored in the fifth minute as Josie Brown deflected the ball past the goalkeeper after Logan Daulton beat a defender down the sideline and played it back to the middle.

The score stayed 1-0 until the 70th minute when Emily Lewis scored off a crossing pass from Abby McDonald after a nice run with the ball by McDonald.

Kayla Zehowski was in goal the first half, and Brienne Dehkes in the second half.

Tech dropped to 2-5-3.

The Elks (2-6-1) will play at Maple Grove on Tuesday night.
