City Council begins meetings with Pledge of Allegiance

Elk River council members have agreed to begin council meetings by saying the Pledge of Allegiance.
Elk River Mayor John Dietz suggested the idea earlier this month and the council began the meeting Monday with the Pledge of Allegiance for the first time.
The pledge was originally composed by Francis Bellamy in 1892 and formally adopted by Congress as the pledge in 1942. Congressional sessions open with the recital of the pledge, as do many other meetings, according to Wikipedia.
