Cross country: Rogers boys 7th, girls 13th at Lakeville meet

The Rogers boys tied for seventh place among 14 teams at Lakeville’s Applejack Invitational on Friday and the girls were 13th among 16 teams.

Caleb LeClaire placed ninth in 16:14 and Reed Parent 16th in 16:34.  Others in the top five were TJ Scott, 41st in 17:23; Aaron Nelson, 56th in 17:43; and Justin Burt, 72nd in 18:03.

“Our varsity guys looked really good this week,” said coach Steve Leuer.  “They all got after it from the gun and competed extremely well.  They were hurting the last mile but got through it and should be happy with their performances.  Caleb finally looks to have his legs back under him.”

Top girls finishers for Rogers were Jackie Linfors, 87th in 16:52, and Madie Mikolich, 88th in 16:52, both personal bests. Bakah Shaffer was 109th, Hannah Lewis 111th and Kelsey Johnston 113th.

“The girls team is starting to figure this CC thing out,” said Leuer. “We have only two girls from last year’s squad back with us, so there are a lot of new runners out there. But, our top 5 are far ahead of where we were at last year at this point

The Rosemount boys and Minnetonka girls were team champions.
