Swimming: Centennial trips Elks

The Elk River swimmers lost to Centennial for the first time on Thursday evening, and decisively by a 111-75 score.

The Elks won five events while the Cougars won seven and had the bulk of the second through sixth places.

“Centennial got some girls who were club swimmers before,” said Elk coach Colleen Killpatrick. “They’re a lot better now.”

Courtney Grunewalk won the medley  and butterfly for the Elks. Ali Schwab won the 50. Anna Huss, senior diver from Zimmerman, won her event for the first time, with a personal  best 175.55. The 200 freestyle relay also won.
