Soccer: Elk girls tie STMA 2-2

The Elk River girls came close to their first win of the season and settled for a 2-2 tie against St. Michael-Albertville there on Saturday.

The Elks had a one-goal lead early in each half. Abby McDonald scored in the first half with an assist from Logan Daulton, and Daulton scored in the second half on a breakaway, assisted by Jenna Kively.

STMAs Kara Hendrickson tied the score with 1:39 left on a shot over goalie Kayla Zehowski’s head.

Zehowski had to make some saves in the first half when the Knights were getting shots over the top. The second half was quieter for the goalie except for the late shot that went in.

The Elks will play at Anoka on Tuesday.
