Cross country: Sting girls 6th, boys 9th at Rockford
The Spectrum girls placed sixth among 11 schools in the Rockford Invitational on Tuesday, won by Providence Academy. Emily Owens led the Sting, placing 17th in 17:54, and Rebecca Peterson was 20th in 18:14. Others in the team’s top five were Anna Rose Nielsen 18:58, Emily Evangelist 19:25, and Kayla Zimmerman 19:25. Jenny Walz of Providence placed first in 16:04.
The Spectrum boys placed ninth among nine teams at Rockford, with Orono winning. Spectrum was led by Chad Schwighammer in 18th place with 18:52. Other Sting runners were Nicholas Eng (20:57), Erik Hansen (21:40), Zak Selley (21:56) and Alex Blake (22:21). Orono’s Paul Brauchle placed first in 17:01.
