Myrle Iris Wehlau, 99, of Zimmerman, died Sunday, Aug. 28, 2011.
She was born March 4, 1912, in Kramer, N.D. to Clarence and Marie Trattles. After graduating from high school, she attended Bottineau School of Forestry, S.T.C. Minot, N.D. and S.T.C. St. Cloud, earning a Bachelor of Science degree. Mrs. Wehlau taught for 39 years as an elementary teacher in North Dakota and Minnesota — Climax, Thief River Falls, Sherburne County Rural and retired from Zimmerman Elementary School.
She married Wilhelm Wehlau on Jan. 21, 1951, in Alexandria. She enjoyed education, reading, crocheting and needlework.
Her funeral service was held Wednesday, Aug. 31 at Freshwaters United Methodist Church, Zimmerman. Interment was at Vernon Cemetery, Elk River. Dare’s Funeral Home of Elk River made the arrangements.
Mrs. Wehlau is survived by a niece, Beverly Faunce of Alaska.
She was preceded in death by her husband; sister, Alice; and brother, Clarence Jr.
Memorials are preferred to Freshwaters United Methodist Church or the Elim Home in Princeton.
