Elk River will interview two for parks position

Two finalists will be interviewed next week for the position of Elk River parks and recreation director.
The candidates are Michael Hecker and Tim Webber. They will be interviewed by the Elk River City Council on Tuesday, Sept. 6.
Hecker has more than 21 years of experience in municipal government and non-profit organizations.  For the past 11 years, he has been the parks and recreation director for the city of Mason,Ohio.
Prior to this, Hecker was the parks, culture and recreation director for the city of Unalaska, Alaska for 4.5 years and executive director for the Old Greenwich Riverside Community Center for seven years.
Hecker has a degree in operations and systems analysis with a minor in accounting/economics and a master’s degree in recreation administration.
Webber has been the executive director of the Western Rio Blanco Metropolitan Recreation and Park District in Rangely, Colo., since 2005 and has been in the parks and recreation field for the past 25 years.
He previously was the parks and recreation director for the Charter Township of Comstock, Mich., for nine years, the program supervisor of youth and adult programs for the Owatonna, Minn., Parks and Recreation Department for 10 years, and temporary recreation supervisor for the Lakeville,  Minn., Parks and Recreation Department.
Webber has a degree in recreation, parks and leisure services with an emphasis in leisure planning and management with a minor in corrections.
