Elk River’s girls soccer team is still looking for its first goal of the season after losing to Blaine 1-0 at home Tuesday evening, falling to 0-3.

“We had some chances late in the game, but you’ve got to finish,” said coach Brian Steuter.

In the conference opener, the Elks gave up a goal to Ashley Pafko midway through the first half. Kayla Zehowski in goal made a few nice saves to keep them within a goal but the Elks couldn’t find the net against the Bengals and netminder Julia Clifford.

“In the last 15 or 20 minutes, it got a little hairy,” said coach Barry Arrowsmith. “They (the Elks) put some pressure on us and had some corner kicks.”

The Elks have lost to No. 9 ranked Edina 5-0, to Buffalo 1-0 and now Blaine 1-0. On Thursday, they’ll play at No. 2 ranked Wayzata.
