Oliver Arthur “Bud” Peirce, 88, of Elk River, died Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2011, while surrounded by his family at Guardian Angels Care Center.
He was born July 16, 1923, in Ladysmith, Wis., to William and Ethel Peirce, raised in Minneapolis, attended Central High School and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II in Europe, 1943–1945.
He loved the outdoors, camping and his motorcycles. Mr. Peirce retired from Mackay Envelope in 1986.
The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. today (Saturday, Aug. 27) at Dare’s Funeral Home, 805 Main St. N.W., Elk River; 763-441-1212. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery, River Falls, Wis.
Mr. Peirce is survived by his wife of 61 years, Lois; daughters, Victoria (James) Peirce-Stephens, JoAnn Peirce (Barry Ryan) and Gloria (James) Morrissette; son, Douglas; grandchildren, Zoe Peirce; Corwin and Hannah Ryan; stepbrother, Billy (Pat) Chapman; nephew, Dennis Zaic; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Laurence; sisters, Edith Kerr, Marjorie Abbott and Alida Rasmussen; and step-brothers, Everett, Thomas and Robert Chapman.
Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
