Alvin G. Ebert, 81, of Waterford Conn., formerly of Rogers, died peacefully Thursday, Aug. 11, 2011, of pancreatic cancer.
He was born on Sept. 18, 1929, in Rogers, to Alfred and Lillian (Neuman) Ebert.
Shortly after graduating from Concordia High School in 1948, he joined the Navy, where he served for 24 years. Working his way up the ranks, he was a lieutenant commander when he retired in 1972. He continued to work after retiring from the Navy, first at The William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich and later at OIC in New London.
In 1952, he married Inge (Budd) Ebert, who survives him. He is also survived by his daughter, Debra (Bart) Drennen of Waterford; and two grandsons, Travis Drennen of New York City and Kyle Drennen of Fort Collins, Colo.; siblings, Weldon Ebert and Lorna Holland of Minnesota, Diane Potter of Wisconsin and Robert Ebert of Kentucky.
Two brothers, Russel (Elroy) and Allan Ebert predeceased him.
