Now is the perfect time to take that planned course in canning fresh home produce while vegetables are just ripening.
“Preserving Your Harvest” is a short two-hour program to teach participants how to can such things as green beans, tomatoes and salsa.
Debra Botzek-Linn of the University of Minnesota Extension Service will conduct a canning workshop from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30 at the Sherburne County History Center in Becker.
Botzek-Linn says the program was created due to the renewed interest in home canning in recent years.
Along with teaching people to can, the interactive workshop will offer tips on safe canning and food preservation.
Cost of the program is $10 a person and reservations can be made by calling 763-262-4433.
The history center is located at 10775 27th Ave. S.E., Becker.
