Chandler, who has been competing in high school rodeos the past three years, will enter the steer wrestling and the horse  bareback riding competitions.

“Bareback riding is my favorite event,” Chandler says. “You have to be more aggressive, and it’s more of being one with the horse. It shows your talent more. You have to be better, tougher and stronger than the horse.”

The high school senior got started in rodeo competitions while in 4-H, entering team roping events.

Chandler has won two jackets, a belt buckle, a $500 scholarship and a trip to Nationals in Gillette, Wyo. this year, where he competed in bareback riding.

The Rogers student will compete in both events at The Minnesota State Fair later this month.
