When Little Johnny gets hurt out on the soccer field in the evening or Little Susie spikes a fever from an ear infection on the weekend, Elk River families will have a new place to go to for urgent care.
HealthPartners River Way is opening an urgent care facility at their Elk River clinic on Tuesday (Aug. 1).
“The patients at RiverWay have been asking for it,” said Bridget Votel, the nursing supervisor and clinic site manager at HealthPartners Andover urgent care. “We have every reason to believe it will be successful.”
Last year, the only urgent care facility in the Elk River area closed. This meant that residents had to drive 20 – 30 minutes to either Andover or Rogers to receive urgent care services. (There are, however, several walk-in clinics available in the area.)
This addition at RiverWay is significant for more than just Elk River but also the surrounding cities who similarly lack urgent care facilities, according to a HealthPartners spokesperson.
Kitty Carlson, RN, MS, the site manager at the RiverWay Elk River Clinic, stresses the value of this facility being opened.
“Many of our patients will drive here from Becker, Foley, Rockford and Milaca just to mention a few towns,” she says. “They do not want to drive even farther when they need urgent care.”
The planned hours for the RiverWay Elk River Urgent Care are Monday–Friday from 6–9 p.m. and weekends 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
