Baseball: Pioneers done after 4-2 loss to Rogers

The Elk River Pioneers committed five errors and lost to the Rogers Red Devils 4-2 on Sunday in the North Star League playoffs, ending their season.

Rogers (4-15) will play at Albertville next Saturday at 2 p.m., with the winner clinching a regional berth. Elk River finished with a 4-19 reocord.

Alex Hoff took the loss in a good complete-game effort for the Pioneers, allowing two earned runs and striking out six.

Aaron Daugherty was 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored for the Pioneers.

Justin Stewart pitched six innings, allowing two runs, and got the win for Rogers.

Josh Vidor pitched three scoreless innings for the save, striking out six, while delivering an RBI single and scoring two runs.

In the first round Saturday, Rogers lost to Rockford 4-3 and Elk River lost to Albertville 11-4.
