Hassan OKs popular inspection ordinance

Following the lead of cities and townships throughout the area and the state, Hassan has passed an ordinance that will allow the township to hire its own electrical inspector should the state government experience another shutdown in the future.

The state shutdown of 2011 laid off non-essential state workers included electrical inspectors, a state-run function.

Hassan Town Administrator Bill Craig says with new businesses like Excalibur and Hardee’s moving into town, the services of an electrical inspector will be needed.

The ordinance would only be in effect during a state shutdown.
