Elk River awards bid for two street projects
The Elk River City Council has awarded a bid for two street improvement projects planned for this year.
The bid of $1,431,096 was awarded to Redstone Construction Co. Redstone was the lowest of eight bidders; bids ranged as high as $1,780,681.
“We did get good, competitive bids on this project,” said City Engineer Justin Femrite.
One of the street improvement projects — Project Area 1 — includes a general area south of Main Street between the railroad tracks and Highway 169.
The other — Project Area 2 — includes streets in the Elk River Industrial Park.
The city will pay for about two-thirds of the project cost and assess the remainder to benefitting properties.
A standard residential lot in Project Area 1 will be assessed $6,985. Assessments in Project Area 2 range from $6,257 to $18,852.
Two people have filed objections to the assessments.
