The Battle of the Bands at the Sherburne County Fair was won by the foursome called “Whosah” on Thursday evening.

The group includes 2011 ERHS graduate Dallas Erdahl and three Maple Grove brothers — Spencer, Mack and Dave Grimes. They sang “Geometry,” “Stand by Me” and “Drive Slow.”

This was “Whosah’s” second contest victory of the year as they also won Starfest at ERHS in May.

A group called LHD got second place. They didn’t turn in their names when they entered the contest at the last minute. Their lead singer said they had just gotten together to play that afternoon for the first time.

Placing third was Spoons and Chopsticks. Ben Walbot, lead singer, said the group sings only its own material, including his “Something to Keep,” which was one of the offerings in the contest.

The event had five entrants. This was the first time the fair has had a battle of the bands.
