Lance Johnson knocked in four runs and recorded the save for Elk River in a 10-9 victory over Rogers on Sunday in Rogers.
IIn the regular-season finale, Johnson, former Elk athlete, was 2-for-4 with one RBI on one single and two RBI’s on the other, along with a bases-loaded walk. He pitched a scoreless ninth inning.
Elk River finished the regular season 4-17 and Rogers was 3-14. The two teams split a pair of league games.
Tony Jarmoluk got the win for the Pioneers, throwing five innings, allowing five runs (three earned), and striking out three. Alex Hoff Pitched three innings, allowing four runs (none Cory Kaminski was 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI for Elk River.
Aaron Cook pitched 6 1/3 innings taking the loss for Rogers, giving up eight runs while striking out four. Blake Shermer pitched 1/3 inning and Wayne Jensen pitched the final 2 1/3 innings.
Beau Musgjerd was 3-for-5 with a three-run home run, four RBI, and two runs scored for the Red Devils.
Rogers was 3-13 and Elk River 2-14 in league play.
The Pioneers open playoffs on Saturday at Albertville at 2 p.m. Rogers will face Rockford at 2 p.m.
Rogers loses to Buffalo
Rogers played twice on Sunday, losing to Buffalo 7-3 in the evening. Musgjerd homered again, this one a two-run shot, giving him three homers for the season. Josh Vidor took the loss, pitching 6 1/3 innings, and Justin Stewart finished.
