A benefit for Stephanie Fessler

A benefit for Stephanie Fessler, who is battling Ewing sarcoma cancer, will be Sunday, Aug. 7 from 1 to 6 p.m. at the Fountains of Ramsey Banquet Center, 7533 Sunwood Dr., Ramsey.

Stephanie, 23, daughter of Will and Lori Thompsen, was diagnosed with Ewing sarcoma in April. It is a rare type of bone cancer that targets young people between the ages of 4 and 15 but can occur in people up to age 30. It is so rare that only 200 – 225 cases are diagnosed in the United States per year. Stephanie has begun chemotherapy at the University of Minnesota Amplatz Children’s Hospital, where she will need to complete nine months to one year of chemo every other week for three days one week and five days the next. She also will have surgery to remove the golf ball-sized tumor that is attached to her left leg just below the knee, and perhaps radiation to reduce the size of the tumor before surgery. She will not be able to work.

Stephanie is engaged to Chad, and they plan to marry in October 2012.

The benefit will include food by Wells Catering, live music and a silent auction (silent auction items are needed; call 763-422-0151). Cost to attend is $20, or $25 at the door.

Send reservation with payment to: Stephanie Fessler’s Benefit Fund, 15428 Nowthen Blvd. N.W., Ramsey, Minn. 55303. Donations only may be made at TCF Bank, Stephanie Fessler’s Benefit Fund Account No. 9441196886, 19216 Freeport Ave., Elk River, Minn. 55330.
