Baseball: Pioneers thump Mound 14-3

The bats came to life for the Elk River Pioneers as they hammered out 14 hits and all but one starter had a run or RBI, in a 14-3 route of Mound at Loretto Monday night.

Jim Brown went the distance for Elk River (3-17), striking out nine.

Conor Edwards was 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and a triple. Aaron Daugherty was 3-for-5 with three runs and an RBI for the Pioneers.

Dan Hoy took the loss for Mound, pitching three innings, allowing eight runs, and striking out three. Noah Waterhouse pitched three innings and allowed six runs. Neil Edenshink pitched a scoreless seventh.

Pete Harrell went 3-for-3 with a double for the Mallards (3-12).

Elk River travels to Rogers for the regular season finale Sunday at 3pm
