Police take handgun from driver
A semi-automatic handgun was removed from a driver after Elk River police responded to a report of a gun-pointing incident.
The incident had occurred on eastbound Highway 10 in Big Lake Township and was reported at 10:47 a.m. July 6. Elk River police officers located the suspect vehicle eastbound on Highway 10. A “high risk stop” was initiated at Highway 10 and 171st Avenue in Elk River and the handgun was removed from the driver, according to Elk River Police Capt. Ron Nierenhausen.
A Sherburne County deputy arrived and handled the matter from there.
