Baseball: Pioneers tip Quamba 5-2

Conor Edwards stroked four hits, while Tony Jarmoluk was dominant in long relief, as Elk River Pioneers stymied the Quamba Cubs 5-2 Wednesday evening in Quamba.

Edwards was 4-for-4 and scored three runs for the Pioneers (2-15) .

Lance Johnson got the win as he pitched five-plus innings, allowing two runs (one earned), and striking out six. Jarmoluk earned the save, striking out 10 in four scoreless innings.

“We played good ball tonight, offense and defense” said manager Ken Ott.

Jake Johnson pitched a complete game loss for Quamba, striking out nine.

Ryan Cordon was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI for the Cubs.

Elk River hosts Howard Lake Saturday at 2 p.m.
