Robert Thistle has begun work as Elk River’s interim city administrator.
The Elk River City Council approved an employment agreement with Thistle at the Tuesday, July 5 council meeting. He attended the meeting and officially began work at City Hall the next day.
Thistle will be paid $55 an hour. He will work not less than 30 hours a week and not more than 40 hours a week. If more than 40 hours a week are required, Mayor John Dietz must approve the additional hours.
Thistle retired in 2007 as a local government consultant with Springsted. Prior to that, he was the city manager in Coon Rapids.
He temporarily replaces former Elk River City Administrator Lori Johnson, who resigned last month. The city is searching for a permanent city administrator and expects to fill the position this fall.
