Otsego takes unusual stance in joint pact
In an unusual move, the Otsego City Council voted 5-0 to issue a letter of support for a project outside city boundaries, with a promise to pay up to $100,000 toward that project.
Council members approved the measure June 27 that provides support for a proposed $22 million interchange.
The interchange at Highway 101 and County Road 144/141st Avenue N. borders Hassan and Rogers.
Otsego’s letter of support states in part:
“Considering the local and regional benefit to the communities located along the TH 101 corridor, it has been determined by the City of Otsego that it is in the best interests of the city to develop and enter into a joint powers agreement to participate in the successful delivery of the TH 101 at CSAH 144 interchange project as an important regional transportation improvement.”
The road project is projected for 2014.
