Elk River identifies streets for beautification
The Elk River City Council has identified seven primary corridors in the city where zoning standards will be actively enforced.
The corridors are Highway 10, Highway 169, Main Street, School Street, Jackson Avenue, Freeport Avenue and Zane Street. Jeremy Barnhart, the city’s planning manager, said the city will focus on the more highly visible parts of those corridors.
Initially the city will primarily be looking to make sure properties along the corridors comply with the city’s sign ordinance. Some intersection improvements will also be considered.
It’s all part of a new city vision and goals. One of the goals deals with beautification and calls for the city to have attractive, welcoming streetscapes at city entrances and primary corridors and to enforce the zoning ordinance.
