The Elk River Legion lost two of three in a Princeton tournament over the weekend, and lost to St. Cloud 76ers on Thursday evening. They are 2-3 overall.
76ers 14, Elk River 5
Pitching in the loss Thursday evening were Josh Marlin (2 2/3 innings), Porter Morrell (3 innings) and Sam Krick (1 1/3, taking the loss). Marcus Lomel was 2-for-3 with a homer and four RBI for the 76ers, and pitched three innings. Josh Fish pitched the last four and got the win. For Elk River, Brandon Meyer was 2-for-3 with a triple, Krick 2-for-4 with a homer and two RBI, and Aaron Pipenhagen 2-for-3.
Grand Rapids 7, Elk River 1
In the Princeton tournament opener Friday, Pipenhagen pitched the distance, giving up 13 hits and five walks, striking out six. Krick was 3-for-3 with a double. Reed Bender pitched the distance for Grand Rapids, giving up eight hits and two walks, striking out three. Jake Bischoff was 3-for-4 with a homer, double and three RBI.
Elk River 3, Princeton 1
Tucker Morrell pitched the distance Saturday at Princeton, giving up six singles and seven walks, striking out five. Peter Morrell was 2-for-3 plus a sac fly for two RBI, Krick hit a homer, and Pipenhagen was 2-for-3 with a double. Josh Vickers pitched for Princeton, allowing nine hits and two walks, striking out six.
St. Francis 7, Elk River 3
St. Francis had 13 hits off Brandon Meyer and Pipenhagen in the consolation finals Sunday at Princeton. Meyer went 4 2/3 innings and took the loss. Matt Williams was 2-for-4 with a double. For St. Francis, Ryan Stockel pitched the distance, giving up seven hits and four walks, with two strikeouts. Tavish Lynch hit a homer, and Lynch, Jake Schake, Travis Nitz, Andy Julkowski and Grant Foster had two hits each.

Elk River will host Zimmerman on Monday evening, and will play at St. Augusta on Tuesday, Robbinsdale Cooper on Wednesday, and Big Lake on Thursday.
