The possibility of a State Government shutdown seems thoughtless and even criminal. Just where is that supposed to go, or what is that supposed to prove?
Most people with any common sense will say that the sensible thing to do is to make some reasonable spending cuts that do no serious damage to people, and to raise revenue by a fair and sensible amount, from those who are able to afford a higher contribution to the common good.
In my opinion, the members who refuse to make sensible compromises deserve an “F” for their legislative service this year, and do not belong in that body as serious representatives of all the people in their districts. There are not many days left for them to do the sensible thing, to earn back the respect of us all. — Don Strei, Elk River
