Golf: Elk girls in 4th place halfway through ‘state’
The Elk River girl golfers, making their first state appearance since 2005, hold fourth place at the mid-point, with Wayzata leading the Class AAA pack at Bunker Hills.
Wayzata shot 331 in the first 18 at Bunker Hills, followed by Stillwater Area 337, Eden Prairie 344, the Elks 355, St. Cloud Apollo 358, Mounds View 375, Woodbury 378 and Northfield 380.
Sadie Martin leads the Elks, tied for 17th with 42-40-82.
In a group tied for 45th are Andrea Dwyer 43-47-90 and Ashlee Lindeen 45-45-90. The other counting score was McKaila Grannin’gs 44-49-93.
The Elks’ other scores are Alex McDonald 47-49-96 and Nicole Thorndal 48-49-97.
New Prague freshman McKenzie Neisen leads by three strokes with 35-36-71.
The final 18 are slated for Wednesday, weather permitting. The Elks will tee off between 11:40 a.m. and 1:10 p.m.
