Work on the closed Highway 169 bridge over Highway 10 in Elk River is progressing.
The southbound bridge was closed Tuesday, June 7 and is scheduled to remain closed until June 25, weather permitting.
The bridge railings are being replaced and the bridge is being resurfaced.
Dan Labo, project engineer with the Minnesota Department of Transportation, said they are working on the bridge deck and that will continue into next week.
“All in all things are going good. We’re making good progress out there,” Labo said.
Elk River Police Chief Brad Rolfe reported a day and a half into the bridge closure traffic control officers had been on duty but did not need to direct traffic.
One thing Rolfe did note is that vehicle speeds on the Twin Lakes Road detour route were elevated above the posted 40 mph zone.
“We are addressing that with directed patrol enforcement,” he wrote in a memo.
