Elk River approves sergeant labor agreement

The Elk River City Council has approved a labor agreement with the union representing the police department sergeants.
The contract runs from Jan. 1, 2011, through Dec. 31, 2012.
It calls for the following pay increase:
•If the city receives Local Government Aid (LGA) from the state in 2011, a 1.5 percent increase is granted. If the city does not receive LGA in 2011, there is no pay increase.
•In 2012 a 2 percent pay increase is given on the 2010 base rate.
The contract affects four patrol sergeants and one detective sergeant represented by Law Enforcement Labor Services, Local 271.
