Baseball: St. Michael thumps Pioneers 13-0
The Saint Michael Saints scored six runs in the second inning and got a combined four-hitter from two pitchers as they blanked the Elk River Pioneers 13-0 Wednesday night in Saint Michael.
Pioneer starter Tony Jarmoluk lasted 2 1/3 innings, allowing nine runs (three earned), and eight hits, taking the loss. Corey Kaminski threw 3 2/3 innings, allowing four runs (three earned), and striking out five.
The Pioneers (0-8) committed five errors in the loss.
John Certa and Jake Braun were both 1-for-2 with a walk.
Saint Michael pounded out twelve hits . Chris Volkmann was 4-for-4 with a two-run home run, double, and four RBI. Travis Kulla was 2-for-3 with two runs.
Wade Gorsett earned the win for the Saints (6-0), pitching six innings, giving up three hits and striking out five. Alec Horton pitched the seventh, striking out three.
Maple Plain hosts Elk River Saturday at 4 p.m.
